Over the last ten years, gender mainstreaming has been the accepted strategy for improving the situation of women. The papers here present a review of the effectiveness of mainstreaming initiatives in the Pacific, and provides recommendations for a more effective approach to gendered development, legislation, policy and politics. The papers were originally published in Development Bulletin Nos. 36 and 64.
